GRAND Learning Network - Schools
|
| Have you heard of family nature clubs? This video talks about how Chip Donahue of Roanoke, Virginia started a club in the summer of 2008. Chip and his wife learned about nature deficit disorder after they read Last Child in the Woods, and were inspired to invite other families to take kids outside to help bridge the nature gap. The video also shows Richard Louv, author of Last Child in the Woods, share his thoughts on nature deficit disorder and what could be done to reverse this trend. |
The GRAND Learning Network works primarily with 6 school districts, which span from one of the Grand River's headwaters areas and rural communities, through semi-rural and suburban communities, and to the City of Lansing, where a "hub" of rivers all join the Grand. Check out our participating schools to share a lesson, give an idea, ask a question, or simply watch teachers and students learn about the local history, environment, culture, economy, literature, and the arts of different places in the Grand River Watershed through various hands-on, real world experiences.
